Six district teams ranked in new AP football poll


Minford ranked seventh in D5 poll

In the newest release of the AP high school football poll following week five of the regular season, six Southeast District teams found themselves ranked.

Scioto County’s lone team ranked is the Minford Falcons (5-0) as the #7 team in the Division V poll with 65 points following their road win over East Clinton. Minford will host SOC II rival Wheelersburg Friday to kick-off conference play.

Ironton (4-1), the lone team from Lawrence County ranked, came in one spot higher than the Falcons at #6 in Division V with 83 poll points following their win over South Point.

Jackson (5-0), 35-15 winners over Wheelersburg at Alumni Stadium, came in at #13 in the Division III AP poll with 21 poll points.

Gallia Academy (5-0), 45-28 winners over Portsmouth, came in at #8 in the Division IV AP poll with 36 poll points.

Trimble (5-0), came in at #5 in the Division VI poll with 106 poll points while receiving one first place vote.

Chillicothe Southeastern (5-0), was ranked #13 in the Division VI poll with 21 poll points.
