Lady Trojans fall to Tigers 77-53

The Portsmouth Lady Trojans dropped their opening contest of the season 77-53 to the Waverly Tigers.

Despite the loss, Portsmouth had three players score in double figures. Jasmine Eley and Semajah Parker led the Trojans with 13 points a piece. Faythe Lee also had a solid night, finishing with 12 points.

For Waverly, Laken Smith scored a game-high 26 while Kilee Perdue added 18 points in the victory. Morgan Wiseman also scored in double figures for the Tigers as she finished with 11 points on the night.

“Our offensive execution was pretty good tonight,” Tigers coach John Bonifield said. “Laken, Morgan, and Kilee got off to good starts in the first quarter and set the tone for us. We had good movement and our defense was able to create turnovers. This was a team win and the entire bench contributed.”
