SOC football honors

On Friday, the SOC their first and second team honors for the SOC I as well as the conference’s superlative accolades for the first division. The SOC II honors will be released once Wheelersburg’s season is over.

SOC I

The Green Bobcats reigned in the most honors among those SOC I teams from Scioto County following their 8-3 season and first playoff appearance since 1990. The following Bobcats were named to the all-conference first team: Trevor Darnell, Caleb Derifield, Lonnie Smith, Alec Smith, and Seth Imes. Mason Hensley, Steve Smith, and James Laber also joined their Green teammates on the all-conference second team. Lonnie Smith was also named SOC I defensive player of the year during his sophomore campaign as he amassed 81 tackles, 10 sacks, and 18 tackles for loss. Green head coach Ted Newsome was also named SOC I coach of the year for 2018.

East’s Kyle Flannery and Chandler Carver were the two Tartans named to the all-conference first team while teammates Jacob Hatcher and Chase Coyle were named to the all-conference second team in Matt Miller’s first season in the Tartans head role.

District special mention for the Northwest Mohawks, Austin Penrod, was named to the all-conference first team as well as teammate Evan Lintz. Their fellow Mohawk teammates, Kaden Zumbro and Caleb Crabtree, were named to the SOC I second team.

Notre Dame’s two district special mentions, Logan Emnett and Braidan Haney, were also named to the SOC I first team. Bryson Arnett and Sam Mays were the Titans that were named to the SOC I second team.
