How fitting is it that in the year that Scioto County has a volleyball team reach the state semifinals for the first time ever that the three teams who made the regional tournaments in Logan and Lancaster last week would also be very well represented on the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Ohio lists? Very fitting, indeed.

The Clay Lady Panthers, who defeated county and conference rival Notre Dame on Saturday to win the school’s and county’s first ever regional championship, had two selections for the division IV All-Ohio lists. Senior hitter and district player of the year Jensen Warnock was named to the All-Ohio second team, while her setter and fellow senior Lila Brown was named as an honorable mention on the All-Ohio awards list. The Lady Panthers face Tiffin Calvert on the campus of Wright State University in Dayton on Thursday at noon with a spot in the state championship game in division IV on the line.

The Notre Dame Lady Titans, who reached the regional championship for the second straight year before falling to Clay, also had two honorable mentions on the division IV All-Ohio OHSVCA list: senior hitters Clara Hash and Katie Dettwiller. Hash and Dettwiller were also named to the all-district first teams when those were announced two weeks ago.

The Wheelersburg Lady Pirates, who reached the regional semifinals for the second year in a row before falling to Tusky Valley in straight sets and finishing their year 26-1, had three players named to the division III All-Ohio lists. Senior setter Abbie Kallner, who amassed over 2,000 assists while on the court, received All-Ohio first team honors, the only player from Scioto County to do so this season. Junior hitters Alli McQuay and Mallory Bergan were named to the All-Ohio second team and All-Ohio honorable mentions list respectively. Wheelersburg head coach Allen Perry was awarded a coaching achievement award from the OHSVCA as well.

Congrats to those that were named to these lists!
