Over the weekend, the Southeast District released their all-district girls’ soccer teams which included a number of players from Scioto County.
The 2018 SOC champion and district champion Wheelersburg Lady Pirates headlined the list of players named from Scioto County. Seniors Libby Miller and Christen Risner were named to the all-district first team, Sophie Hagans and Morgan Bivens were named to the second team, and Jordan Jennings and Chelsee Steele were named as honorable mentions from the Lady Pirates. Assistant coach for Wheelersburg, Kevin Powell, was named the division III Southeast District assistant coach of the year as well.
The runners up in this year’s SOC girls’ soccer race, the Minford Falcons, also included a number of players on the all-district awards list. Senior Aurie Coriell and junior Hannah Tolle were named to the all-district first team, Teighlor Suggs was named to the second team, and Abhirami Karunananthan and Emily Shoemaker were named as honorable mentions.
The Northwest Lady Mohawks that were named to the all-district teams include: Sydnie Jenkins who were named to the first team, Kaley Hamilton and Eva Reyes who were named to the second team, and Ellie Curtis and Alexia Throckmorton who were named as honorable mentions.
Portsmouth West senior goalie Dreama Sadler headlined the Lady Senators honorees on the all-district girls’ soccer award as she was named to the division III first team all-district list. Sadler’s teammate Haliegh Williams was named to the second team, and Haven Hileman and Amber Kennedy were named as all-district honorable mentions.
The following teams from Scioto County were given the team sportsmanship award for not accruing a single red card at any point throughout the season: Northwest, Portsmouth West, and Wheelersburg.
