On Monday, President of the District 14 volleyball coaches’ association and Wheelersburg head volleyball coach Allen Perry announced the all-district teams for Division III and Division IV which included members from schools in Scioto County.
Wheelersburg senior Abbie Kallner and Minford’s Ashley Blankenship were the two representatives to make the Division III District 14 first team from Scioto County. Rounding out the first team was Division III District 14 player of the year Skylar Hice from Southeastern, Huntington’s Riley Black, Zane Trace’s Evie Bennett, and Southeastern’s Lauren Goebel.
Wheelersburg’s Alli McQuay and Mallory Bergan along with South Webster’s Hannah Spergin were among those to make the second team in Division III District 14 from Scioto County. Joining those three on the second team include Zane Trace’s Hannah Under, Southeastern’s Jessica Bolte, and Fairfield’s Kamryn Magee.
Northwest sophomore Haidyn Wamsley was the lone player from Scioto County to make the third team in Division III District 14 as she was joined by Westfall’s Kristin Phillips, Adena’s Reece Kerns, North Adams’ Wylie Shipley, Peebles’ Kylie Sims, and Huntington’s Miranda McCloskey.
Honorable mentions from Scioto County include Wheelersburg’s Emily Boggs, Minford’s Maddie Slusher, Portsmouth West’s Molly Taylor, and South Webster’s Faith Maloney. Perry himself was named the Division III District 14 Coach of the Year in 2018.
Scioto County was represented well in the Division IV District 14 honors that were released on Monday. Three representatives from Clay including player of the year Jensen Warnock, Delanie Gilliland, and Lila Brown made the first team for the Panthers. Two representatives from Notre Dame including Katie Dettwiller and Clara Hash made the first team list for the Titans. Eastern’s Kaytlyn Newsome rounded out the first team selections in the Division IV honors.
For the second team, Notre Dame’s Cassie Schaefer and Sophia Hassel, along with Clay’s Taylor Lewis were those that represented Scioto from County on the Division IV District 14 second team. Joining those three on the second team include Western’s Carigan Haggy, Eastern’s Madison Southworth, and Manchester’s Brooke Kennedy.
There were three honorable mentions from Scioto County in the Division IV District 14 honors including Glenwood’s Shelby Easter, East’s Grace Smith, and Notre Dame’s Taylor Schmidt. Notre Dame head coach Kelsey Glockner was also named Division IV District 14 coach of the year.
