On Saturday, the University of Rio Grande hosted the 2018 Southeast District Division II and III boys’ and girls’ cross country meets.

The Green Bobcats CC team, who finished as back to back SOC I champs in last Saturday’s SOC meet at Northwest High School, finished as district runners up and overall fourth place in the Division III boys’ race with a team score of 136. Those that contributed to their 136 mark include: James Hallam, Zachary Huffman, Tanner Kimbler, Baley Derifield, and Ethan Huffman. Tayte Carver and Lethan Poe also ran and competed for the district runner up Bobcats. Green advances to the regional tournament joining Leesburg Fairfield, Trimble, Belpre, White Oak, and West Union.

In the Division III girls’ race, South Webster’s Olivia Messer and Minford’s Emily Shoemaker both placed in the top 28, good enough to advance to the regional tournament in their field as well.

In the Division II boys’ race, Northwest was the only team to place in the top nine at the district competition among Scioto County teams as they finished sixth among the twenty eight teams that competed. Those that contributed to their conglomerate score of 201 include: Landen Smith, Josh Shope, Gabe Morrell, Ricky Gambill, and Kailan Marshall. The Mohawks who also ran for their team include Eli Marshall and Rees Holsinger. Portsmouth’s Aiden Kammler and Daniel Clark both individually placed among the top 36 in their competition, good enough to advance to the regional competition individually.

Those who placed well enough in the Division II boys’ and the Division III boys’ and girls’ races will advance to the regional tournament at Pickerington High School North next Saturday, October 27th.
