The Lady Mohawks volleyball team overtook Oak Hill Thursday evening in three sets, 26-24, 25-14, 25-16. A team effort led to the win with Addisyn Newman dealing out ten kills, one block, four digs, one ace with six points. Hayden Wamsley contributed nine kills, three blocks, ten digs, three aces, and eleven points. Reagen Lewis had 26 assists, three digs, one block, three aces and thirteen points. Ava Jenkins helped her team adding thirteen digs, nine points, one ace and four kills. Alexis lute added three points, four kills, one assist, a dig, and one ace. Valerie Eury also helped contribute in her team’s victory with nine kills, three points, one assist, one dig, and one ace.
This was the Lady Mohawks “Spike Out” cancer game in which all proceeds went to the SOMC Compassion Fund to help fund breast cancer awareness. Northwest was able to raise $800 in donation to an excellent cause.
A young Mohawk team continues to improve as the season winds down and heads into tournament action next week. Northwest improved on their record for the season with the win and now stand at 11-11 leading into their first post season match with Adena on Tuesday. The Mohawks and the Indians will square off at 6:00 p.m. on the Warriors homecourt in their Division III Waverly 1 sectional matchup.
