OHSAA announces boys’ soccer seeding

On Sunday, the OHSAA announced the seeding for the Division III boys’ soccer southeast district tournament. The South Webster Jeeps were seeded as one of two number one seeds in the southeast district with a record of 12-1-0 heading into the final week of the regular season. They will face the winner of Chesapeake and Belpre on Tuesday October 15th at 5:00 p.m. as they attempt to advance out of their sectional. Seeded in the sectional below South Webster is the Minford Falcons who have a record of 5-5-2 heading into their final week of the season. The Falcons will square off against the South Point Pointers in their sectional matchup on October 15th at 5:00 p.m. If the Falcons were to win their sectional matchup, the would face the winner of South Webster and Chesapeake/Belpre for a spot in the district semifinals at Waverly High School on Saturday October 20th at 11:00 a.m.

The second number one seed in the southeast district tournament bracket is the Northwest Mohawks who finished their regular season with a record of 9-3. The Mohawks will face the winner of eighth seeded West Union (3-7-3) and ninth seeded Portsmouth (1-11-1) on Monday October 15th at 5:00 p.m. To determine who will face off against the Mohawks, the Trojans and the Dragons will play on Saturday October 13th at 11 a.m.

Seeded in the sectional below Northwest and Portsmouth is two more Scioto County schools: Clay and Valley. The Panthers are 8-2-1 heading into the final week of the season, good enough for the fourth seed in their half of the bracket, while the Indians are 5-8-0 heading into the final week of the season, good enough for the fifth seed in their half of the bracket. The winner of the Clay and Valley matchup will face the winner of the Northwest, West Union, and Portsmouth sectional for a spot in the District semifinals on Saturday October 20th at 1 p.m.

Seeded 10th in their half of the bracket is the Glenwood Tigers who have a record of 1-9-1 heading into their final week of the regular season. Glenwood will face off against Southeastern in their sectional matchup on Saturday October 13th at 5 p.m. The winner of this game will go on to face the Rock Hill Redmen, who are 11-0-2 heading into their final week of the season, on Monday October 15th at 5:00 p.m.

The final matchup for a team from Scioto County is the third seeded Wheelersburg Pirates, who heading into the final week of the regular season have a record of 7-4-2. The Pirates will face off against Ironton St. Joes who have a record of 8-2-1 going into the final week of the regular season, good enough for the second sixth seed in the southeast district tournament. These two teams are scheduled to play on Monday October 15th at 5:00 p.m. The winner of this game will face off against the winner of the Southeastern/Glenwood and Rock Hill match for a spot in the district semifinals at Waverly High School on Saturday October 20th at 1 p.m.

The lone Division II team in Scioto County, the Portsmouth West Senators, were seeded 10th in their sectional matchup with Warren. The Senators have a record of 1-10-2 heading into their final week of regular season play. The winner of the match between West and Warren on Monday October 15th at 5:00 p.m. will go on to face Jackson on Thursday October 18th for a spot in the district semifinals.
