SOUTH SHORE, Ky. — Celebrations of area baseball and softball teams will be held this afternoon at the Schultz Creek ball diamonds on Bryson Farm. The free events are open to the public, and fans are encouraed to bring lawn chairs.
The South Shore area’s rich softball history will be honored first with a slow-pitch fun game starting on the softball field at 3:30 p.m. Players and coaches from the pioneer women’s and girls teams of the 1960s and 1970s are invited to participate. Players from the Stan Spence era are also welcome.
The third annual Schultz Creek Legends game will follow on the adjacent baseball field at 5:30 p.m. Anyone who ever played in the past on the ball field is invited to join in the game. Fans and players with family ties to the original Schultz Creek teams of the early 1900s will be acknowledged before the game.
The fields are located across from Bryson General Store, 2378 State Route 784. The store will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Smokin’ Bob’s BBQ will be selling barbecue and stadium fare.
