On Saturday, the Portsmouth Trojans finished 11th out of 23 teams in the Piketon Invitational. In Division III, the Trojans placed third out of 14 competing squads.

Freshman Daniel Clark led the way with a time of 17:50, placing 29th out of 237 runners. Ethan Haas (18:31), Tyson Trinidad (18:37) and Caleb Clark (18:37) finished 51st, 54th and 55th respectively.

“All five boys ran lifetime personal best times,” Trojans head coach Corey Culbertson said. “We are beginning to run fresher and it showed today.

“We talked a lot about working as a team and packing up. They executed this perfectly and throughout each set personal bests. I got a rush out of watching them pick off runners as a pack throughout the race.”

Daniel Jordan rounded out the team, finishing with a time of 21:15.

“Daniel continues to drastically improve his time and he’s not done yet,” Culbertson said.

On the girls side, Destiny Royalty finished 94th overall with a time of 25:19.

The Trojans will be back in action Tuesday, October 13, at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
