In a battle atop the SOC I volleyball standings, the Eastern Eagles prevailed over the Notre Dame Titans on Thursday, winning in four games 17-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-21.

Despite the loss, the Titans got an incredible performance from sophomore Lexi Smith. She recorded 28 kills in Thursday’s match — including a kill percentage of 70 percent — and added three blocks and 11 kills. Hagen Schaefer recorded a team-high 14 digs to go with two aces and four kills, and Raygan Kayser added 11 blocks.

The two teams will meet again on the final match of the season on Oct. 13 in Beaver.

The Titans take the floor again on Saturday, when they host a tri-match with Piketon and Northwest. Eastern hosts North Adams on Monday in a non-conference match.
