The Clay soccer team played St. Joseph to a 3-3 tie on Tuesday evening in Ironton.

The Panthers struck first, scoring two goals just before halftime to take a 2-1 lead into the break. Though Ethan Newton’s second goal of the game just a minute into the second half gave Clay a 3-1 lead, St. Joes would not be denied. The Flyers scored two goals in the final 30 minutes of the contest to knot the game up at three at the final whistle.

In addition to Newton, the Panthers got a strong game out of Aaron Keyser, who recorded two assists on the evening. Clay keeper Anthony Williams recorded nine saves throughout the game.

The Panthers take the field again on Thursday, when they host South Webster.
