The Shawnee State men’s soccer team was tabbed to finish sixth of eight schools in the Mid-South Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the conference announced Wednesday.

The Bears finished the 2014 season with a 4-12-3 overall record, including a 1-4-2 mark in the Mid-South. The Bears received 21 points in the preseason poll.

Reigning Mid-South Conference regular-season and tournament champion Lindsey Wilson grabbed top honors, earing seven of the eight possible first place votes en route to 49 points. Campbellsville University came in at No. 2 with 39 points.

Next on the list was Cumberland University and St. Catharine, each with 36 points. St. Catharine also received the final remaining first place vote. The University of the Cumberlands notched the fifth position with 22 points.

Following SSU in the sixth slot, Georgetown College ranked seventh with 14 points and the University of Pikeville rounded out the poll with seven points.

Shawnee State opens its 2015 schedule with a road trip to Milligan College, Tenn., for an Aug. 21 matchup with Columbia International, followed by an Aug. 22 bout versus SCAD Savannah. The Bears begin conference play on Sept. 12 versus St. Catharine.
