Ironton’s Kyle Adkins played some aggressive offense, leading the game Friday night as the Tigers beat the Coal Grove Hornets 54-41 in Hornet territory. This was the first of two losses for the Hornets over the weekend.
Adkins scored 24 points from three-three pointers, six two pointers and three of five free throws. Supporting Adkins was Ethan Wilson with 13 points from four-two point shots and five of six free throws.
Jeb Jones led for the Hornets with 15 points. He scored four-two point baskets, one shot from behind the arc and made four of six free throws.
The Tigers will face Gallia Academy on the road on Feb. 1; meanwhile, Coal Grove went on to play Saturday at Oak Hill where they took another loss. The Oaks was 59-36.
