The Notre Dame Lady Titans kicked the week off right with a 19 point win on the road at Western, beating the Indians 52-33.
“We got off to a good start defensively and forced a bunch of turnovers that lead to some points in transition,” Notre Dame Head Coack JD McKenzie stated.
Titan Hagen Schaefer, who just hit her 1,000th career point last week, led Notre Dame with 19 points. Lexi Smith, Taylor Schmidt, Katie Dettwiller and Molly Hoover also played hard and made major contributions to the win. Smith scored 11 points and had 13 rounds. Dettwiller came in next with eight points but added 16 rebounds, seven blocks and four steals. Hoover had nine assists.
“Lexi and Katie did a great job controlling the glass and outletting the ball to Molly and Hagen to set up some good looks for us,” McKenzie commented. “We were able to play all of our young players in the 2nd half and give them some valuable minutes.”
After just a few days in the gym, the Titans (12-1, 9-0) will return to face Clay at home on Thursday night.
