The Coal Grove Hornets girls basketball lost to Lincoln County Monday night in a tight game that ended with Lincoln County winning 47-42. The Hornets stayed close the entire game despite trailing three quarters. At the end of the first, Lincoln was leading 11-9. By the half, Coal Grove had taken the lead, with Lincoln Co. down 21-22. However, Lincoln County soon regained their lead. It was a defensive battle on both sides with multiple picks and blocks, keeping the score low and close.
Leading for Lincoln was Carly McComas with 12 points. McComas scored two-three point baskets, two-two point baskets and two of two free throws. Coming up behind McComas was Alli Farmer with 11 points gained through five-two point goals and one of two free throws.
Destiny Dolen not only led for the Hornets but also outscored McComas with 13 points. Dolen scored five-two point shots and three of three free throws.
Coal Grove will will go on to play on Friday at River Valley.
