Shawnee State women’s basketball were back in action on Saturday, January 14th when they take on #7 Campbellsville in a top-10 matchup.
The 10th-ranked Bears are 18-1 and 4-0 in the Mid-South Conference. Shawnee State defeated Life 112-51 on Saturday in a balanced team effort led by Jonessa Moore’s 22 points.
#7 Campbellsville are 17-2 and are 4-1 overall in the league. The Tigers defeated Georgetown on Thursday, January 12th 82-53. Emily Fox had a game-high 17 points in the win.
Jonessa Moore continues her campaign for Mid-South Conference Player of the Year on Saturday. The senior from Cincinnati is averaging 19.8 points and 7.6 rebounds on the year and has won MSC Player of the Week twice so far.
The Bears are also getting big contributions from freshmen Brandie Snow and Bailey Cummins. Snow is averaging 12.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game. Cummins is putting up 12.0 points and 4.4 assists per game.
Emily Fox leads Campbellsville in scoring with 15.1 points per game.
Shawnee State leads the nation in scoring offense, averaging 81.895 points per game so far this season. The Bears are top 10 in the country in 11 different statistical categories.
Shawnee State is 12-12 all-time against Campbellsville, and have won three of the last four. The Bears defeated the Tigers 75-62 in the last meeting of the series in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship game on March 6th of last year.
