The Valley Lady Indians headed to the home of the Senators Thursday to show West how well the Indians could dominate a court. Valley beat Portsmouth West 47 to 42.
The Indians took a quick lead, outscoring the Senators in the first two quarters and ending the half leading 22-18. West came within one point of catching Valley in the third. However, the Indians came together in the fourth with several players joining top scorer Hannah Conley in racking up points for the win including Maddie Wright, Bre Call, Karsyn Conaway, Kaity Howard and Bailee Day.
“Hannah Conley had 20 rebounds and 22 points in the win,” said Valley Head Coach Mark Merritt.
Conley also scored four of nine free throws.
Makayla White led for West with 13 points. White scored three-two point baskets and 10 of 20 (50%) free throws.
Valley plays again Saturday at Eastern Brown. Merritt confirmed that it will be a varsity game only with a 1 p.m. start time.
West will play again Monday at Northwest.
