The Oak Hill Oaks girls basketball team played a high scoring shootout on their home court against the Waverly Tigers Thursday night, a game that ended with Oak Hill winning 70-54.
The Oaks played some aggressive offense and had accurate shooters and drivers to get the job done. The Oaks made 11 of 15 free throws. The Tigers, who clawed to keep up, made nine of 17 free throws.
Leading the game was Tiger Laken Smith with a heavy 28 points. Smith shot the ball hard and consistently, making 12 two point goals and one three pointer. Smith also made one of three free throws.
Just a point under Smith, Oak Hill’s Bethany Blanton shot 27. She made some big plays early in the game with five-three point shots, two of which were in the first quarter. Blanton also scored three-two pointers and made six of seven free throws. Blanton was followed by Catilyn Brisket who scored 17 points, made one-three pointer, five-two point field goals and made four of five free throws.
Waverly will go on the road to face the South Webster Jeeps on Monday.
The Oaks will play Eastern-Reedsville Saturday at 1 p.m. at Reedsville.
