WEST PORTSMOUTH-It went down to the final seconds Tuesday night as the North Adams Green Devils defeated the Portsmouth West Senators 63-61.

North Adams started following behind with a score of 47-52 at half. Coming out of halftime, however, they started to take over on the offensive side of the court, and late in the fourth North Adams pulled ahead by two. In the final seconds with a chance to inbound the ball, the Portsmouth West Senators failed to get a shot off as the North Adams defense sealed the game.

North Adams Coach Nathan Copas was very pleased with his teams toughness and determination throughout the game.

“It was a back and forth game throughout, I know they shoot the three’s pretty well. No lead is really safe, two positions they could be back ahead. I just never felt like we took control of the game until the end, we would make a comeback a little bit then they would hit a couple shots and stretch the lead,” Copas said.

On the other side of the court, Senators’ Coach Scott Davis was proud of his teams defensive execution throughout the ball game.

“We played great defense. I was really proud of the boys. We just had a bad 4th quarter. The boys didn’t quit though. We had a last second shot that didn’t go up, but all in all they played a great game of defense,” Davis commented.

Tre Patrick lead the Senators on the offensive end with 14 points.

Coach Davis was proud of Patricks performance on both ends of the court.

Davis explained, “Tre always plays hard he was on one of their best players so he was pulling double duty tonight. He was flat worn out. He’s a team leader. Offensively and defensively he played a great game.”

Coach Copas looks to keep the momentum going as the North Adams Devils host Northwest

“Hopefully we come out and get better at the things we do and hopefully we get a W,” he commented.

Coach Davis looks to get back in the win column as the Senators take on Minford.

“I’m just going to keep working and see if we can pull out a win,” Davis concluded
