Shawnee State women’s basketball swept their two games at the Keiser Classic on Friday night, defeating hosts Keiser University (Fla.) 61-49.
Similar to Thursday, the Bears would never trail in Friday’s game. Shawnee State led 15-9 after the first quarter, and would push the lead to 30-21 at halftime. The Bears would then go on a 17-4 run to start the third quarter to ice the game, holding off the Seahawks in the fourth quarter to cruise to victory.
Jonessa Moore led Shawnee State with 15 points on the night. Brandie Snow added 13 and Madison Ridout 11.
Claudia Reque was the lone Keiser player to score in double figures, netting 14 points.
With the win, Shawnee State improve to 17-1 on the season. Keiser falls to 9-6. The Bears snapped Keiser’s five game winning streak with the win.
Shawnee State return to action on Saturday, January 7th when they host Life University for the first time in Mid-South Conference play. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00pm.
