The South Webster Jeeps had a big win Saturday, beating the Wheelersburg Pirates 38-35.
“Our kids did a phenomenal job on the defensive end and made Wheelersburg work for every scoring opportunity,” South Webster head coach Ryan Fenton stated. “We were able to make some adjustments defensively and after we did, we held them to 18 points total the final three quarters, after giving up 17 in the first.”
The Jeeps were led by Shane Zimmerman with 12 points. Fenton added that Zimmerman was also instrumental in several key assists.
Though Zimmerman led in scoring, several players contributed to the win and played some great basketball.
Fenton commented, “Matthew Shonkwiler was great at the point, constantly attacking their zone and getting to the rim. Alek Blevins and Hunter Bennington were great defensively and each hit a huge three late in the game. Shiloah Blevins had his best game of his career thus far. He was a beast for us, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds. He was aggressive on both ends of the floor, and we need that from him to continue to be successful.”
South Webster improved 4-2, 2-0 in the conference and will go on to play at Waverly on Tuesday.
