The Green Bulldogs Basketball team defeated the Rock Hill Redmen 61-58 in overtime Tuesday night on the Redman court. It was a tough game, with both teams playing good defense. The Bulldogs were up by four after the first quarter, just to fall down by one in the second. They finally gained a more significant lead over the Redmen at the end of the third, with a 36-28 score. Then, in the final minutes of the game, the two tied up at 49-49, sending the game into overtime, with Green winning the game by only three points.
It was a real team effort from Green. Tanner Kimbler was the shooter of the night, with the most points scored and the winning shot, but several boys made some big plays.
Green Coach Dirk Hollar was proud of his Bulldogs stating, “Tayte Carver led the way for us with 24 points. Tanner Kimbler had 19 and hit the game winning 3 with 3.3 seconds remaining. Tayte made a great skip pass to Tanner and he buried it. Zach Huffman came off the bench and made huge shots in the 2nd half scoring all 8 of his points in that half. AJ Johnson played like a man inside tonight blocking shots and rebounding. He chipped in 6 and dominated the paint on the defensive end. Caden Blizzard also scored 4 points off the bench hitting two needed free throws in the 4th.”
Rock Hill was a fierce competitor, and fans from both sides were eager for a win.
“It was a tough environment, the place was loud, and Rock Hill flat out D’d us up,” Hollar commented. “The Adkins kid played his heart out for Rock Hill.”-
