‘Blue Out’ T1D Foundation boys basketball game set

For a second year in a row, MacKenzie will be hosting a “Blue Out” Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) foundation boys basketball game between Notre Dame High School and Portsmouth High School.

The game will be held at Notre Dame High School on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. (Junior Varsity) and 7 p.m. (Varsity).

All Type 1 diabetics will be honored the night of the game.

If you are a type 1 diabetic and will be attending the game, you will receive a free “Blue Out” t-shirt to wear.

Last year, over $6,000 was raised for the local T1D community.

The money raised was donated to the Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) Annual Development Fund for Juvenile Diabetes.

With the monies raised, we were able to help several Type 1 Diabetic families in need, donate over 125 care bags to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for newly diagnosed Type 1 children — and host a T1D camp and conference for Type 1 kids, teens, families and the community.

We are hoping to raise even more money this year.

This money will be used to help families get to and from appointments and help with food and other expenses, provide college scholarships for Type 1 college students, and provide support group activities and camps for local Type 1 Diabetic kids and teens.

There will be raffles, prizes, games and entertainment.

Please come out and enjoy the fun and be recognized.
