Shawnee State men’s golf announced the signing of Jordan Tieman from West Portsmouth.
Jordan has played four years of golf at Portsmouth West High School for head coach Kevin Downey, lettering varsity all four years. He has been a first team All-Southern Ohio Conference selection the past four years and a three year All-District selection. In addition, Jordan has been the Tri-State Player of the Year from 2014 to 2015, and the Southern Ohio PGA Player of the Year in 2016, winning two tournaments. Jordan was a local qualifier for the Unites States Golf Association U.S. Open and a Junior PGA qualifier.
Coach Dave Hopkins had this to say about Jordan: “Jordan is a young man I have watched grow up and become a very good player. Anytime you can add a player of his ability to your program, it can only help you to reach your goals.”
Hopkins added, “Jordan has been a winner on every level, from the junior level to the summer tours and high school. I see that continuing here at Shawnee. The more winners and hard workers you have the better for everybody…Jordan was on the top of my recruiting list for this season, and it’s always great to get your top recruit. Jordan has wanted to play college golf his whole life, and it’s always great to see young people like Jordan reach their goals.”
Jordan is the son of Jimmy and Elaine Tieman. He will be majoring in Plastic Engineering at Shawnee State.
Men’s golf are back in action on Sunday, October 16th when they tee off in the Shawnee State Invitational at Elks Country Club. Tee time is set for 1:30pm.
