‘Revive Conference’ to be held May 27-29

Revive Church of the Nazarene, 456 Brown St. in Portsmouth, will host the ‘Revive Conference’ at the church May 27-29, 6:30 p.m. nightly, and 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Dan Bohi, a national evangelist, will be preaching for the conference.

The Revive Conference will be a time of powerful worship and preaching by Bohi according to Pastor of Revive, Art Perkins.

“We have a Revive Conference coming up May 22-29, he is basically a national evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene. Dan has been in ministry for about seven, or eight years, and everywhere that he travels amazing things happen through his ministry,” Perkins said. “A lot of people have been saved, and there have been many testimonies of people being healed that have been confirmed by doctors. It is just going to be a very powerful, powerful time of ministry through Dan Bohi.”

Revive Church of the Nazarene is formally Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene. Perkins said the name of the church was recently officially changed.

“We officially had the name changed by a vote of the congregation and approval of our district assembly, that would be the South Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene,” he said. “I came back to the area with a vision to revive the area, and our church wants to accept that DNA. The new culture of who we are, with a new ministry approach, vision and mission to revive people, and that is our mission, which is Jesus’ mission to revive people. That is why we have changed the name from Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene to Revive Church of the Nazarene. So that DNA means everything that we do is about revive.”

Perkins expounded further upon what the word ‘revive’ means, as it relates to the church’s mission and the upcoming Revive Conference.

“With the Revive Conference, I am hoping to accomplish a new era of ministry in our church as far as the atmosphere,” he said. “If we are going to seek to revive, then the church has to become the example of being revived, breathing life back into the body. When you think of revive, we will understand that term means to bring something back to life, or to restore the unconsciousness to consciousness. That is what we want to be about, and want to do through this conference.

Since he has become pastor of the church now called Revive Church of the Nazarene, in 2015, he said he has seen miraculous things occur, and has witnessed many people being delivered from drug addiction as well as a host of other addictions.

Perkins also said he and his congregation welcome everyone to come out to the Revive Conference for a dynamic worship experience.
