GREENUP, Ky. — Greenup Christian Church (GCC), located at 711 Main Street, in downtown Greenup, Ky., will be hosting Homecoming Services on Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13. David Welsh, former minister at GCC, will be the featured speaker for Homecoming Services.
According to GCC, Welsh is the current Senior Minister of the 8,000-member congregation at Central Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas. Welsh served churches in Kentucky, Florida and Indiana, before accepting the call to CCC in December 2006. He is a graduate of Kentucky Christian University with undergraduate and graduate degrees, and he and his wife, Kim, have three children Drew, Hunter and Sutton Elizabeth.
Worship Service on Saturday, Sept. 12, begins at 6:30 p.m. at GCC and will feature Welsh as the guest speaker along with Paul Hunt, Jr. leading songs, with special music by Emily Stevens. On Sunday, Sept. 13, during Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m., the GCC Praise Team will lead songs with special music by Chris McQuistion, as Welsh will deliver the morning message.
Following the Morning Worship service, there will be a picnic lunch at 12:30 p.m. which will include a hog roast at Greenup City Park. Later that evening, Homecoming Weekend will conclude with Worship Service at 6:30 p.m., featuring songs led by Glima Hall, special music by Glory Road and Welsh as the guest speaker.
Mike Dennis, Minister at GCC, said the Homecoming Services will be a source of encouragement to those who come out.
“We invite the community to join us and be lifted up and encouraged to walk with the Lord every day,” Dennis said. “Come and see and hear what the Spirit of God will bring to each one of us during our Homecoming Services.”
