Cornerstone United Methodist Church ( UMC) youth group ‘Real Life Youth’ will host an open house on Aug. 30, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. This back to school bash will be for any youth grades 6-12. The event will also feature a concert from the Marty Ford Experience, a five-piece rock-worship group that leads worship at churches and has shared the stage with national acts like Sanctus Real, Audio Adrenaline, or Big Daddy Weave.
Senior Pastor of Cornerstone UMC Tim Roth, said the highlight of the Back to School Back is the grand opening of the church’s new youth room.
“The highlight of the evening will be for the students to experience the new youth room,” Roth said. “We unofficially welcomed kids in the room in May after five months of construction. But, with the kids in and out for the summer we wanted to have one big grand opening night. The room has tripled in size and has a stage, a hospitality room for them to play games and eat in, and a large area with couches and chairs to worship and just plain hang out. “
Additionally, there will be an inflatable obstacle course, a dunk tank, corn-hole, food and drink for the participants to enjoy.
“Shortly after the building was finished it became apparent we needed a larger space for our youth,” he said. “With the building paid off in 2013 were were able to raise the capital to bless the next generation with an incredible new space. We greatly appreciate Gina Chabot with THSD Architects designed the room and Dave Liddle was the building contractor.”
