Lewis County burglary unsolved

LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. — According to reports from the Lewis County Sheriff Johnny Bivens, an investigation is underway regarding a burglary complaint from Kendall Cooper, 76, of Little Cabin Creek in Lewis County, Ky. on Friday, July 17, 2015.

Authorities say that on Friday, July 17, 2015, at approximately 4 a.m., two white males who reportedly in their late 20s and early 30s, came to the residence of Cooper, and made a verbal request for a jump for their vehicle. According to reports, the two men were driving a dark colored Sports Utility Vehicle.

Reportedly, while Cooper was providing a jump to the vehicle, authorities said someone entered Cooper’s home and removed a gun safe containing four guns. The gun safe is described as metal brown in color with a wrinkle finish.

The four guns said to have been contained in the safe consist of NR Davis and Son hammlerless 12 ga. double barrel shotgun marked Ajax Model Winchester 20 ga., hammerless single barrel shotgun, a Ruger 1022 rifle wooden stock with a mounted scope rail, and a Ruger Mark 1 semi-auto 22 ca pistol with a Tasco scope.

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone with information regarding this investigation may call the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 606-796-2913. All calls will remain anonymous.
