With interchange construction at U.S. Route 23 in Scioto County under way for the new state Route 823, restrictions will be imparted next week on County Road 55 (Fairground Road).
Beginning Tuesday and continuing Wednesday, July 19-20, Fairground Road will be closed between Township Road 158 (Thomas Hollow Road) and C.R. 26 (Millers Run-Fallen Timber Road) in order for crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture to set beams for the bridges that will cross the roadway and be part of the interchange with U.S. Route 23.
The closure will go into effect at 7 a.m. Tuesday and continue through 10 p.m. Wednesday, and while Fairground Road is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 23.
Traffic restrictions are already in place on north and southbound U.S. 23, with the route reduced to one lane in each direction through early August. Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution throughout the entire corridor, where crews and heavy equipment are moving in and out of the work zones.
