Resurfacing project begins on S.R. 73 and U.S. 23 in Portsmouth

CHILLICOTHE – Work has begun on a project to resurface S.R. 73 and U.S. 23 inside the city of Portsmouth, as well as bridge maintenance along the affected routes:

S.R. 73 between Scioto Street and U.S. 23

U.S. 23 between S.R. 73 and Lowery Hollow Road.

Work will occur daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic will be maintained throughout construction using flaggers, cones, and temporary lane closures as needed. Crews began the project with saw cutting for full-depth pavement repairs that will be completed prior to milling and placing of asphalt.

The $2.2 million project was awarded to the Shelley Company and is expected to be completed by summer 2022.
