MINFORD — Minford High School Marching Band Winterfest is quite a big production and this year they are looking forward to being able to hold the kind of Festival that they have had in the past.

Last year put a damper on what Minford Band Boosters were used to doing. They had to have online sales and a drive-through picture with Santa. Considering all that they had to go through to even have the Winterfest, (due to COVID-19), they did really well and without even an unconventional festival the Marching Band would have had to have a spare program, as the Winterfest is their big money maker.

The Minford High School Band’s 19th Annual Winterfest is being held this Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Winterfest will be held mostly in the gym and band room at the high school. The event is to help raise funds for the various band programs at Minford Schools.

According to the Minford Band Boosters, some of the events and activities guests can enjoy and experience are:

  • Santa arriving on the back of the Fire Truck at 11 a.m.
  • Photos with Santa in the Cafetorium
  • Preview of the various Christmas items being auctioned: Decorated Christmas Trees (various themes and heights 3 ft. to 7 ft.), Decorated Wreaths, Gift Baskts, and other Christmas decor items. More auction details will be available at the preview. We will also have a veterans theme Christmas tree, and all the proceeds from the sale of that tree will be donated to the wounded warrior project.
  • Vender/craft show in the gym
  • Planned activities for the kids: Games, Crafts, Face Painting, etc.
  • Electronic Photo Booth “The Mirror” have a photo printed where you can select from various backgrounds and props. The is great fun for all ages.
  • Bake Sale and Concession Sales.

The Band Boosters also added what presentations will be happening throughout the day including:

11:00 a.m. – “Elvis”

12:30 p.m. – Portsmouth Elementary School “Trojan Express Choir: (5th and 6th graders) under the direction of Laurie O’Brien.

1:30 p.m. – Various students from Minford High School’s Encore performing various songs.

2:00 – 3:30 p.m. – Soundtracks of songs of the season and/or other local acts.

3:30-5:00 p.m. – Otis Crockrun from Athens, Ohio singing/performing

*And more…come see for yourself. Of course, everyone is welcome.

If you were looking for some early presents for Christmas and buying locally, the Minford High School Band’s Winterfest is the place to be. It also looks to be a day of excitement and fun, if you are just wanting to get out and possibly get in the Christmas Spirit, they have something for everyone.
