PORTSMOUTH — Portsmouth Police Chief Robert K. Ware and Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini say two individuals have been arrested in Portsmouth, after being indicted by a Scioto County grand jury for drug-related felony offenses.
On Friday at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force with assistance from detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics-related search warrant at the residence of 34-year-old Janice L. Parker and 34-year-old Eric T. Montgomery located at 1037 15th Street Apartment C in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Montgomery was present inside the apartment at the time the warrant was executed by detectives.
Detectives seized approximately fifteen grams of suspected heroin, over $2,100 cash, digital scales, and additional drug trafficking-related evidence.
Parker arrived at the residence as detectives were still processing the scene.
Both Parker and Montgomery were arrested for a warrant on indictment related to the criminal offenses of trafficking in and possession of heroin, both felonies of the first degree, and tampering with evidence, a felony of the third degree, after a case had been presented to a Scioto County grand jury by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office earlier this month.
The case initiated by the task force will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s office to also be presented to a grand jury for the consideration of additional felony drug-related charges.
Both Montgomery and Parker were placed in the Scioto County Jail and are being held without bail until they are arraigned in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.
