OSHP Easter blitz nets 260 oxys

It was a productive weekend for troopers from the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, confiscating 260 oxycodone pills in one stop and 48 grams of heroin in another.

The OSHP conducted a three-day drug enforcement blitz over the Easter Holiday weekend, initiating 189 traffic stops which resulted in six charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and 10 drug-related arrests.

On Sunday at around 1:09 p.m. troopers aid they stopped a vehicle for a marked lanes violation on U.S. 23 in Scioto County. They said criminal indicators were present and canine Rocky gave a positive indication. The driver, Lasha Brookins, 58 of Detroit reportedly surrendered a package containing 260 oxycodone 30-milligram pills and 30 oxymorphone 40-milligram pills they said was concealed on her person. Talesha Brookins, 38 of Detroit was also reportedly associated with the drugs. Both women were charged with felony two possession of a schedule II drug and felony two drug trafficking. They were incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail.

Earlier Sunday, around 12:45 a.m., troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on Ohio 140 near milepost 1. Troopers said a search of the driver, Sean Jewett, 47 of Portsmouth, produced a metal pill container concealed in the waist band of his pants. According to the report, inside the container were four oxycodone pills. Jewett was charged with felony two possession of schedule II drugs, OVI, failure to control a motor vehicle and driving under a child support suspension. He was incarcerated in the Scioto Count Jail.

On Friday, at around 8:46 p.m. troopers said they stopped a vehicle for a marked lanes violation on U.S. 23 in Scioto County. They said a probable cause search revealed 48 grams of heroin. As a result, William Sarver, 57 of Dayton was charged with felony two possession of heroin and felony two drug trafficking.
