Troopers seize crack cocaine in Scioto County

Troopers stopped a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, with Ohio registration, for a window tint violation on U.S. 23 southbound in Scioto County at 11:48 p.m., on March 14. During interaction with the occupants, troopers detected an odor of marijuana. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a bag containing 28 grams of crack cocaine, worth $2,800. Troopers also discovered a loaded handgun. The driver, William J. Whitfield, 20, of Miamisburg, Ohio, and passenger, Christopher M. Kirk, 20, of Worthington, Ohio were incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail and charged with possession of crack cocaine, and trafficking in drugs, both first-degree felonies, receiving stolen property, and improper handling of a firearm, both fourth-degree felonies
