The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the two people who were killed in a Sunday crash involving a pursuit by law enforcement. Troopers said Kimoni C. Davis, 20 of Detroit, Michigan was eastbound on U.S. 52, in a 2004 Ford Explorer while fleeing the Hanging Rock Police Department around 8:23 a.m. Sunday when he reportedly tried to exit onto the 17th Street Bridge on ramp just west of Chesapeake.

Troopers said due to excessive speed, the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway striking an embankment. It then went airborne, overturned and struck a utility pole coming to rest in a wooded area off the south edge of Ohio 7 killing the driver and a passenger in his vehicle.

On Monday, family members at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington identified the driver killed in the crash as Kimoni C. Davis. Killed in the same crash was a passenger in his vehicle, Airshaan D. Warren, 17 of Nitro, West Virginia who was identified by his mother.

Troopers said the preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle was travelling in excess of 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
