Opening not affected by purchase

It was announced earlier this week the Michaels Companies has purchased Lamrite West, Inc., the parent company of Pat Catan’s.

Prior to the to the purchase Pat Catan’s announced they would be opening a location in New Boston, according to company officials plans remain the same.

The Pat Catan’s location is slated to open at 4050 Rhodes Avenue, in the former Steve and Barry’s building.

With the opening will come the creation of between 25-30 new jobs.

Ray Young, marketing manager for Pat Catan’s Craft Centers, told the Daily Times, their centers usually employ 25 to 30 associates.

He said Pat Catan’s offers all manner of craft, floral and hobby supplies; scrapbooking, floral design, jewelry making, kid’s crafts, fine arts, frames and framing, yarn and needle crafts, wood, paper mache, candles, seasonal, candy and baking, party supplies.

“Everything a creative person would be looking for,” Young said.

According to their website, low everyday prices aren’t the only perk of shopping at Pat Catan’s. People can also take advantage of their loyalty programs for an even deeper discount on all of their favorite craft supplies. Members of their savings programs receive mailers and emails alerting them to exclusive sales or coupons, invitations to members-only events and more.

According to released information from the Michael’s Companies, the purchase has a value of $150 million.

The Michael’s Companies said Lamrite West will maintain its leadership team and facilities and operate as a distinct business.

The tentative opening date for Pat Catan’s Craft Centers New Boston location is May 1.
