A grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration will be held at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 at Adena Family Medicine – Wellston located at 118 South New York Avenue, Suite A, in Wellston in Jackson County.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting is to be held from noon until 1 p.m. The event will feature speakers including: Wellston Mayor Connie Pelletier; Jason Wilson, Executive Director, Ohio’s Governor’s Office of Appalachia; Adena President & CEO Mark Shuter and more.

All members of the community are invited to visit Adena Family Medicine – Wellston to meet the providers and staff, see the facility and learn more about the services Adena provides. Refreshments will be available.

Right now, the Wellston clinic is currently offering Primary Care, with the possibility to expand some specialty services into the clinic in the future.

There are currently three people working in the clinic, including one providers, Certified Nurse Practitioner Amanda Strickland. Like our Oak Hill clinic, Wellston is a hub of our full-service Jackson Health Center, located in Jackson, Ohio.

“This clinic is fairly unique in that the community came to us, asking to bring primary care to Wellston,” Maria Smith, Director of Corporate Communications for Adena Health Care Systems, said. “Following this request, Adena’s Business Development team conducted its analysis and determined there was a definite need, and worked on how the Health System could fill that need. There was a great deal of collaboration with the community, with strong support from the Mayor’s office and the State as well. The project was also awarded a federal grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, to help make it a reality.”

Then beginning at 4 p.m., the Clinic will host an open house, complete with tours later for all members of the community.

“Adena was started in Chillicothe more than 120 years ago, to meet the need for quality healthcare in the community. This continues today across more than five counties, and is really reflected and at the heart of our new vision of being instrumental in creating healthy, thriving communities,” Mark Shuter, President and CEO of Adena, told the Daily Times. “The opening of Adena Family Medicine – Wellston is furthering Adena’s newly-adopted vision, ‘To be instrumental in creating healthy and thriving communities.’ Having regional access points, and good primary care providers, working directly with patients and families starts this process. We have a journey ahead of us to make our region truly healthy and thriving, and this is a great start.”
