Litter totals for the month of February have been released by the Lawrence Scioto Solid Waste Management District.
According to District Director Dan Palmer, 2.7 miles of county/township roads were cleaned with 217.0 man-hours worked by residents from STAR Justice Center.
Palmer stated that 474 bags of litter and trash were collected with 8.71 tons of trash taken to the Portsmouth Transfer Station. The district stated five sofas, nine toilets, 15 TV’s, three mattresses, 99 tires, and one bathtub were removed and hauled away.
Major cleanups were performed on Haines Road, with 157 bags of trash/litter, three rolls of carpet, an enormous amount of vinyl siding, and 50 containers cleaned, and Hayport Road, 50 bags of trash/litter, carpet, TV’s, mattresses and sofas cleaned.
Palmer stated that nearly a full week was spent on litter removal efforts on Haines Road & Hayport Road Palmer reminds citizens to dispose of trash responsibly and securely and to think about that impact littering has on our communities.
