Heritage Square of 3304 Rhodes Ave., New Boston, Ohio has announced new ownership.
Effective Feb. 1, 2020, the new owner is Heritage Legacy Health Services, LLC. The facility will be directly managed by owners Deborah Voiers Akers, BA, LNHA, CEAL, chief financial officer and Steven Ray Akers, BS, CEAL, CEO. Additionally, the facility has a new name – Heritage Pointe.
“Debi and I are so excited and thankful to be able to take ownership of Heritage Pointe. The facility has been a part of our family for many years and has a special place in our hearts,” Steven R. Akers, said. “We expect that operations at the facility will go on as normal. Yodi Wilson has been the director for nearly 31 years and will continue to be.”
Heritage Square is an assisted living facility at 3304 Rhodes Ave., New Boston, Ohio. The facility offers senior residents a safe housing opportunity, 24-hour staff, nutritious meals, assistance with transportation, social gatherings and more. Deborah Voiers Akers, BS, LNHA, CEAL, chief financial officer:
Deborah has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Morehead State University. She taught school for 13 years in the Greenup County School System where she obtained her fifth-year accreditation (equivalent to a master’s degree in Education). Deborah has been involved in the health care field since 1968 when her parents, both licensed administrators, purchased Rest-haven Nursing Home, a Skilled Care Facility in McDermott, Ohio. Deborah also worked alongside her parents to renovate an empty school building and establish Voiers Convalescent Center, a Skilled Care Nursing Facility in South Shore, Kentucky (now known as South Shore Manor). She obtained her Kentucky Nursing Home Administrators License in 1975 and her Ohio Administrators License in 1985. In order to meet the requirements to sit for her Ohio testing, she had to work under a licensed preceptor for several months. Her preceptor was Gilbert Lawson, her uncle, and previous owner of Heritage Square. Deborah is currently the Owner, CEO, and Administrator of Resthaven Nursing Home which is listed as one of the top performing facilities in the state of Ohio. Deborah has an excellent nursing and administrative staff who strive to excel in the senior health care industry by providing affordable,
quality health care to individuals thereby allowing them to age with dignity and comfort. Deborah also completed training and testing to become a Certified Executive Assisted Living di-rector (CEAL) in 2014. The certification is recognized nationally in the senior care industry.
Steven Ray Akers, BS, CEAL, CEO
Steven has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Morehead State University. He also at-tended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Steve worked for Goodyear Atomic Corporation and the United States Enrichment Corporation in Piketon, Ohio for 38 years in various positions such as contract administrator, maintenance engineer, Special project manager, and Corporate buyer for USEC Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. Upon Steve’s retirement, he joined his wife Deborah in the health care industry as vice president of Voiers En-terprises, Inc. Steve has been involved in the health care industry for approximately 46 years working with his in-laws and wife. Steve also obtained his CEAL certification in 2014 and is actively involved in the daily operations of Resthaven Nursing Home as Resident Care Coordinator. Steve interacts with the Residents and their families and negotiates contracts with various providers for services at the facility.
