Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini and Interim Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer announced Friday that two Portsmouth men were apprehended and suspected illegal drugs were seized from a Portsmouth, Ohio residence.
On the morning of Feb. 6, 2020 at around 8:45 a.m. the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force visited the residence of 45-year-old Rocky Newman located at 1527 High St. Portsmouth in an attempt to apprehend Newman on a warrant for violating parole. Upon Newman’s apprehension, parole officers conducted a brief search of the residence and discovered a suspicious bag of a powdery substance that weighed approximately (22) grams.
Upon request, detectives with the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force responded to the scene to assist in the search and further the investigation. An additional small bag of a powdery substance and digital scales were also recovered from the residence.
44-year-old Antwan Felder of Portsmouth was also arrested for violating probation with Portsmouth Municipal Court.
Both Newman and Felder were placed in the Scioto County Jail.
Upon further investigation and once the substance is tested by the Ohio BCI&I crime lab, the case will be submitted to the Scioto Co. Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a grand jury for the consideration of felony drug charges.
