On Tuesday Coors Light Beer launched a special promotion for Valentine’s Day in an effort to bring together consumers and furry friends. Coors Light announced its “Coors for Canines” offer, sponsored by MillerCoors LLC, which will reimburse the first 1,000 participants on dog adoption fees in an amount of up to $100.
In an informational release sent out by the company, Coors Light stated the promotion is one of many efforts to combat the stress of “Cuffing Season,” a cultural trend which puts pressure on young people to seek relationships during the winter months and instead seek the company of a canine pal.
“With almost half of millennials planning to stay in on Valentine’s Day, we wanted to help empower people to savor the day with Coors Light and a dog by their side,” said Chelsea Parker, marketing manager at Molson Coors.
In order to qualify, you must be 21 years old and adopt a dog between the dates of Feb. 4 and Feb. 21. Residents of California, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia, however, are excluded from the promotion. No beer purchase is necessary to participate in the promotion.
According to the official rules of the promotion, upon completion of an Adoption, a participant must, using an SMS-enabled mobile device, take a picture of the Adoption receipt with proof of adoption and send the picture as a text message to the shortcode 28130 (“Short Code”) stating the keyword “COORS4K9” (“Keyword”). The adoption receipt must include adoption cost, name of adoption shelter, adoption location/state, date of adoption and Animal type (Offer only valid for dog Adoption). The company stated the funds will be sent to the adoptee through the mobile payment service Venmo.
