Education in the trades and other careers is not a lost art out at the Scioto County Career and Technical Center (SSCCTC), just the opposite. If you are not familiar with the SCCTC and all of the programs they offer, you might want to attend their upcoming Open House.
The SCCTC will hold their Open House Thursday, Feb. 20, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Main Campus located at 951 Vern Riffe Drive, Lucasville and the North Campus located at 708 Fairground Road, Lucasville, will also be open.
Josh Shoemaker, Central office administrator said community members, parents and students can meet with instructors, see program demonstrations and tour the campus.
SCCTC offers many programs for both high school students and adult students to choose from in fields of Business, Construction, Education & Training, Engineering, Health, Hospitality & Tourism, Human Services, Information Technology, Law & Public Safety, Manufacturing and Transportation. Not only do they offer some programs in these fields, but their students are doing well in competitions and they are also getting jobs in their fields of choice.
During the open house, there will be a free chili dinner that will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Another added touch for the Open House is that Allied Health Program will be offering free blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings and glucose tests in the Taylor Meeting Room.
In the case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
