PORTSMOUTH — The sports staff at the Portsmouth Daily Times announced Tuesday the release of the first episode of the PDT Sports Podcast, a free weekly interview-style show focusing on the sports history in Scioto County and the surrounding area.
Each week’s episode will feature a different guest and cover an assortment of topics regarding the history and future of sports in southern Ohio and northeastern Kentucky.
The first episode of the PDT Sports Podcast will be available to all early Wednesday morning and will feature an interview with East coach and ‘92 Wheelersburg grad Matt Miller. In the episode, Daily Times sports editor Jacob Smith discusses with Miller his days as a Pirate playing both baseball and football, his coaching today, how different aspects of football have changed, who he regards as the most talented players of his era, and more.
“I’m a bit of a history nerd, especially when it comes to sports history,” Smith said. “I’ve wanted to do a podcast since starting with the Daily Times in July 2018, but couldn’t figure out my approach. Now that I have, I’m looking forward to presenting quality local sports history content in this format to our readers and the hopefully new listeners we can attract along the way.”
