Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini and Interim Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer announced Friday two people have been arrested after suspected illegal drugs and a firearm was seized from a West Portsmouth residence.
On Jan. 16, 2020, the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force visited a residence located at 59 Crain Road. West Portsmouth, Ohio to attempt to apprehend 36-year-old Christopher Michael Eldridge on an indictment warrant for his arrest for drug trafficking that had been issued by the Scioto County Common Pleas Court. Upon officers entering the residence, Eldridge was found hiding in a bedroom of the residence. 20-year-old Amber Shiveley of Blue Creek, Ohio was also present in the bedroom.
At the time of the apprehension, officers observed a handgun and digital scales in the bedroom Eldridge and Shiveley occupied. The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force was contacted and responded to the scene.
Upon a search of the residence, task force officers discovered approximately 38 grams of suspected crystal meth aka “ice” and 4 grams of suspected cocaine in the bedroom Eldridge and Shiveley occupied. The suspected drugs, a loaded 0.38 caliber handgun, digital scales and additional evidence was seized.
In addition to being arrested on the indictment warrant, Eldridge was charged with Possession of suspected Methamphetamine, a felony of the second degree, and Possession of suspected Cocaine, a felony of the fifth degree. Shiveley was also arrested and charged with drug offenses.
Eldridge and Shively were placed in the Scioto County Jail and were to be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court Friday, Jan. 17, 2020.
The case against Eldridge and Shiveley will eventually be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury for the consideration of additional felony charges.
