CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies say a man’s body has been found in a wooded area of southern Ohio.

Ross County deputies say the cause of death had not been determined, but they were investigating it as a homicide unless evidence proves otherwise. Lt. Mike Preston says the death was considered “suspicious” because the body was found in such a heavily wooded area.

Deputies said an area resident found the body around 10:30 Thursday morning while walking near Tar Hollow State Park and called 911. The caller said there appeared to be a plastic bag over the man’s head.

Preston says the body was about 30 to 40 yards into the wooded area and out of sight of the road.

Sheriff’s officials said they weren’t aware of any missing males in the area.
