A man accused of robbing a southern Ohio bank has been apprehended by authorities. Charles Richard Vaughn III, 26, was taken into custody by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office in Tallahassee, Florida.

Special Agent in Charge Angela L. Byers of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Attorney Carter M. Stewart, and Sheriff Shawn Justice of the Vinton County Sheriff’s Department said on Dec. 2, 2015, a federal criminal complaint was issued by the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, charging Vaughn with bank robbery.

Vaughn is a suspect in a robbery that took place on Oct. 30, 2015 at the Parmar Vinton County Bank in Wilkesville, Ohio. Authorities said during that incident the robber initially attempted to gain entry into the bank through the rear door, but was unable to do so. The robber then reportedly ran to the drive-through window and demanded money while pointing a handgun at the teller. After receiving money from the teller the robber then fled to a wooded area behind the bank. The Vinton County Sheriff’s Office responded and searched the area with their K-9 Unit and did not locate him.

Since his arrest Vaughn has been in the custody of Leon County authorities who are coordinating with the FBI in Jacksonville, Florida.
