GRAYSON, Ky. — The Grayson Gallery and Art Center’s ‘Time for the Holidays’ Art Show will be on display until Saturday, Dec. 12. Dan Click, coordinator of the GGAC, is also announcing cash winners from the Nov, 27 Final Friday Art Walk.

Cash award winners consisted of People’s Choice – Mike Spears for his drawing ‘Thoughts,’ Grayson Gallery Board Choice , Karen Everhart for her pastel ‘The Run in November,’ both $50 each, and two ‘Jules Downing Art Appreciation’ cash awards given by Susan Downing and Al Collinsworth for “Waiting for Spring”, a photograph by Velvet Childers and an Untitled pen & ink by Bill Salyers, $30 each.

“The Grayson Gallery hosted this show to coincide with the annual Grayson Hometown Holidays event so that the art on the walls would complement the seasonal festivities and we were well pleased with the over 90 pieces submitted,” Click said. ” While the two cash prizes given by the gallery – People’s Choice and our GGAC Board Choice were already in the works, this was the first time one of our musicians has offered an award! Singer/songwriter Al Collinsworth and his wife, Susan Downing, decided to donate $30 to each of the two works chosen in honor of Susan’s brother, Jules Downing. They also plan to give another cash award in Jules Downing’s name at our next show, earmarked for an artist who is a newcomer to showing their art in the Grayson Gallery & Art Center.”

According to Click, GGAC will be open for artists to pick up work still on hand on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. until 1p.m. with other hours by appointment. Contact Dan Click for winter hours and events; the GGAC will be open for workshops and group painting parties only as scheduled. The next exhibit entitled, ‘Peace & Love’ will open on Feb. 26, 2016.
