Portsmouth Police are searching for a 17 year old male after two people reported an incident involving a gun. Portsmouth Police officer Ben Fugitt said he is investigating an accusation by a brother and sister that the male shot at one of them and struck the other with a gun Sunday at 6:09 p.m. on Boundary Street.

“David Evans, who lives on Jackson Avenue here in town, claims he was shot at,” Fugitt said. “Trista Evans, who also lives on Jackson Avenue, here in town, says the kid hit her with a pistol. David Evans says the juvenile pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger and fired a round which missed him. Trista Evans said she tried to take up for her brother and she said he pointed a gun at her and hit her in the head with it.”

Fugitt said Trista Evans was transported by ambulance to Southern Ohio Medical Center. In addition, Fugitt said several people witnessed the incident and will be involved in questioning as a part of the investigation.

“We have not made an arrest,” Fugitt said. “We cannot locate him. We have sent it to the (Scioto County) Prosecutor’s Office for a warrant or whatever they’re going to do.”
